Tourism in India was for long linked to the exotic and exquisite culture which inspired many travellers and was a life changing experience for them. Today there is beeline for India as the medical tourism in India gets acclaim from different quarters.
Medical tourism in India is expected to contribute $2 billion in annual revenue by 2012 and the dental tourism in India is expected to grow by 30%. According to a new ruling, Air India will be able to purchase fuel on two-to-three-months' credit instead of paying daily fuel charges as it does now.
Air India, has been put on cash and carry mode since December 2010 for owing more than Rs 2,000 crores to public sector oil companies and has been paying Rs 16.5 crores per day to lift aviation turbine fuel for its daily operations. With the new ruling Air India is once again being allowed to take fuel on credit. The decision to provide the credit, has been taken by a group of ministers (GoM), headed by finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on reviewing the financial and operational performance of Air India.
Petroleum minister S. Jaipal Reddy, home minister P. Chidambaram, deputy chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia and civil aviation secretary S. Nasim Zaidi attended the meeting. This also happens to be the first meeting of the GoM attended by the newly appointed CMD of Air India, Rohit Nandan.
