Air India’s New Boss Vows Financial Turnaround

The newly appointed boss of Air India, Rohit Nandan, stated at an interview with the Economic Times that the economic turnaround of the airline is the main priority since Air India is battling with massive losses and crippling debts at the moment. Air India used to be referred to as the 'Maharaja of the skies' but has been in the red since 2007 when it merged with domestic carrier Indian Airlines. The government of India has injected about 25 billion rupees (USD 550 million) in the airline and is expected to invest another 12 billion rupees into Air India this year. Mr. Nandan also said that he will focus on improving customer satisfaction so that young fliers would choose and feel satisfied with its offerings.
